Beginner Card Tricks: Playing Card Lingo

This is not one of our normal posts. We found this guide on playing cards. We always assume that everyone understands playing cards but maybe we should not assume that. Since playing cards are such a big part of the magic trick selections we decided to include it. But it does not fit into one of our regular categories so we are going to post it into a new misc category.

Varying by colors, numbers and shapes, the set of 52 playing cards, figured with distinguishing motifs have been entertaining us for years. Games played with cards can be seen from our low stake tables in our garage to the tables with the highest stakes at WSOP.

The cards are now not only used for playing card games, but are adapted for other uses, such as magic tricks, telling fortunes using cartomancy, and things like building a house of cards. It can pretty much be said that playing cards are now part of our lives. Though it is not hard to get a chance to play cards with anyone, it is pretty difficult to figure out what language is spoken at the table on the first try.

Along with numbers, there are shapes on each card to separate the numbers. The shapes are called suits. There are four suites: Spade, Diamond, Heart, Club. The spade, which is the highest in suit ranking, is shaped like a leaf, colored in black, and is the highest ranked card. Often times, the Ace of Spade has a big spade in the middle rather than a regular spade, due to a tradition started from taxes.

The diamond, colored in red, is the second in ranking and is shaped like a rhombus shaped like a four-sided diamond.

The third in ranking is the heart, colored in red, shaped like the heart. The club, the lowest rank of the four suits, is colored black and takes the shape of a three-leaf clover.

Magic Tricks For Kids – A Great Combination

It’s always enjoyable performing magic tricks for an appreciative audience. Once you get a few magic tricks under your belt, you’ll be hooked on performing your craft because there is something really rewarding when a well executed magic trick leaves your audience in disbelief and applauding all at the same time… and that’s the real magic.

The element of doubt in the mind of your audience is the key to a good magic trick. Just a dab of doubt and you can see the people in your audience start to question their rational… and for that moment the illusion is truly magical.

Being in touch with your audience is the showmanship part of the magic trick and is vitally important. It is also the most fun part as a performer. The look in their eyes, their laughter all make it worthwhile.

When you first start out performing magic tricks, there is a good chance that the bulk of your audiences will be comprised of children. In the eyes of the kids your tricks will truly be magical and the look of the faces and the giggles from the children are a reward like no other.

A child’s imagination and the art of a magic trick are a wonderful combination. A child’s imagination is a wonderful enhancement to any magic trick. It’s that unique and innocent perception of the world that kids have that make performing magic tricks for them all the more rewarding.

Even something as simple as the disappearing coin trick will have kids giggling with joy as you first make the coin disappear then reappear from one of the children’s ears. They’ll love and beg you to do even more with them! And if you can’t get hooked on the innocent reaction of children then you can’t get hooked at all.

The best part about performing magic tricks for kids is that kids just know how to be kids… after all that’s exactly what they are. And magic to kids is just that… magic. I mean… after all… what is the major draw to Disney World for kids… well… Magic Kingdom… of course!

If you are just taking up learning a few magic tricks, an audience full of kids is a great way to get started. And even though you may decide to take your magic tricks to even higher heights, you’ll never have a better audience than a room full of young children.

So don’t worry about starting small… as in kids… you’ll probably find that you’ll always enjoy working your magic trick for kids.

A great place to start with magic tricks for kids is with Learn Easy Magic. It starts with the absolute basics. There are 4 books each one dealing with different area of magic. One book for doing tricks with money, one for doing tricks with cards, one for doing tricks with everyday objects and even on for doing mind reading illusions.

Beginner Card Tricks: Magic Cards

Magic has been around for centuries. It has even been associated with medieval times in stories of Merlin and King Arthur, which has made religious people believe that this was evil. And people who knew it and practiced it were considered to be heretics and were burned at the stake.

Now who would ever imagine that magic has now gained a more favorable popularity? With more than a handful of famous magicians amusing innumerable audiences, magic has never been this much loved before. This popularity has made a lot of people yearn to learn some magic tricks. One of the most basic is the use of magic cards.

A deck of cards is one of the most common props used by magicians. There are many forms of magic tricks a person can do with a deck of cards. Here’s what one aspiring magician has to learn in manipulating magic cards:

The first thing that a person must learn is how to shuffle. This is done using both hands and by having a certain amount of cards on each hand. Then alternately put one card over the other until all the cards are in one stack then putting them together to form a uniform pile.

After that, one can start performing certain tricks that will both fool and amaze the audience. Some well known magicians can make a cigarette go right through a deck of cards while others can make a card float in the air with no visible strings attached.

The most basic trick that anyone can master however is letting someone pick a card and after shuffling it, picking that same card the person selected moments ago. There are so many other tricks one can do with a deck of cards and all it takes is some time to get to know these tricks, practice it then show off to friends.

Other than using magic cards, there are so many other tricks, which involve other props or paraphernalia such as a coin, a hanky, or even a small ball. The use of cards in performing a trick is merely an execution of various optical illusions and manipulation, which just goes to show that the hand is quicker than the eye.

Cards can be bought at the local specialty store or ordered online. Sometimes these come with other special packages that will make tricks more fun to perform and watch.

One secret that either a newbie or an expert can benefit on while using a magic card or just about any magic props is to not reveal the secret of how the tricks are done.

A great place to start with Beginner Card Tricks is with Learn Easy Magic. It starts with the absolute basics. There are 4 books each one dealing with different area of magic. One book for doing tricks with money, one for doing tricks with cards, one for doing tricks with everyday objects and even on for doing mind reading illusions.

Tips On How To Do Magic Tricks For Free!

I’m often asked what the best way to start to learn how to do magic tricks would be, and although it can be different from person to person, I’m sure I can provide a few hints and tips that may help and probably more importantly, – what you should try to avoid.

I think the most important thing to do when just starting to dabble in magic, is to learn a few simple magic tricks that can be done without having to use any gimmicked apparatus or special props. I mean magic tricks that can be done using ordinary items that can often be borrowed and handed out for examination after the miracle has been performed.

This can be really stunning for any lay audience, as they are so used to seeing magic tricks and illusions on TV and video, where fancy and often expensive props are used and also where camera tricks and clever editing are used to create a more exciting TV program.

I’m sure you’re well aware that most magic can be purchased from reputable magic suppliers and you’ll also know that the cost of most magical secrets is usually very high.

So how can you possibly learn how to do magic tricks without spending a great deal of money for these secrets and when most top magicians will just not explain how their magic tricks are done.

Most magicians first started to do magic tricks after receiving a small magic set, but unfortunately the typical magic set is usually made up totally of ’self-working’ tricks, with trick cards and boxes etc., none of which can be examined by the audience after the trick has been shown, and so there’s the problem and worry of having to hide your tricks as soon as you finish each one.

For a beginner this creates a problem, especially among friends and classmates, who are always desperate to examine the magical props and try to find out ‘how it’s done’.

So that’s why I suggest learning some simple magic tricks with ordinary everyday objects that can often be borrowed and then freely handed out for examination. Ordinary everyday items like coins, pens, banknotes and such, appear to be beyond any suspicion of trickery and doing magical things with them is so very effective and yet often very simple.

This really adds tremendously to the magic and of course, as most professional magicians will tell you, – ‘the simple effects are the ones that are usually the most stunning to the audience and in my experience, get the best response’.

Some of the best items to use to amaze your friends are coins, banknotes, pens, rope etc. and there are a few basic skills that are so easy to learn and will very quickly allow you to vanish and exchange coins and several small objects.

One of these basic skills is known as the ‘French Drop’, which is what all magicians use to vanish and exchange small items like coins, keys, balls etc. So I would certainly recommend that one of the first things that you should practice, as a beginner, is just that (French Drop) and coupled with the simple Palming of a coin.

This will allow you to carry out a nice magic routine with borrowed coins etc. and will leave you ‘Clean’ at the end of the effects. It will also get you out of difficulty when you are expected to do something magical.

This is magic that requires no props or fancy apparatus and there are now many great magical websites like this one that will help you find tricks for free or very low cost.

A great place to start is with “Learn Easy Magic“. It starts with the absolute basics. There are 4 books each one dealing with different area of magic. One book for doing tricks with money, one for doing tricks with cards, one for doing tricks with everyday objects and even on for doing mind reading illusions.

Beginner Magic Tricks: Magic For Beginners

Are you constantly amazed by disappearing acts, card tricks and other magic wonders you see on different occasions? Children’s shows, magical exhibitions, trade shows, parties, and carnivals are some of the events where magicians are popular.

Because of the effect of magic on people, many would like to somehow try the basics of magic. There are a lot of online sites that offer tips on how to get started with magic. Others just content themselves with ready-made gimmicks they found at magic shops. But for those who are really serious about trying magic, these magic-filled sites offer different services or Beginner Magic Tricks for newbie magicians. In their sites, they offer free videos that will help you become trained in simple card tricks and other vanishing acts with the use of coins, rings and other magic props.

Before starting to learn magic, you have to know the essence of magic. First, magic or magic shows should provide happiness to people. Magic ought to be truly enjoyed by people watching and by the magician performing. Second, a truly good trick should be remembered. Different methods can be tried in order to make your tricks stand out even more.

The best place to get excited about your first beginner magic trick is in a local magic shop. Talk to the magician of the shop, if there is one, and try asking him basic questions. Then, request him to show a couple of tricks to you. Usually, magicians are very eager to help beginners.

A good magician does not mind putting in a lot of effort to learn and continuously practice his magic tricks and constantly reinvent. Good magicians don’t repeat tricks to the same audience. Your audience may figure out your secret. It is not long before people notice familiar moves and can get bored quickly.

Here are some tips:

a. Regularly practice your magic. Allot time every day for your practice.

b. If you are trying to videotape your act, be sure that you have no mirrors around you as they change views and the audience would not see what they ought to see. And remember do not appear as though you are unsure of what you are doing because your audience might easily lose interest watching when the magician looks not confident.

c. Ask other people to watch intently while doing your tricks, then ask for feedback.

d. Master one trick first before learning a new one.

e. Anywhere you go, make it a habit to bring magic props. Take some coins and a deck of cards with you so that if you have extra time, you can use it to practice the tricks.

A great place to start with Beginner Magic Tricks is with Learn Easy Magic. It starts with the absolute basics. There are 4 books each one dealing with different area of magic. One book for doing tricks with money, one for doing tricks with cards, one for doing tricks with everyday objects and even on for doing mind reading illusions.

Easy Magic Tricks

There are many easy magic tricks which are available and rather easy to find. This is true for all types magic, from easy to the more difficult magic tricks, from card tricks to street magic.

What type of magic you want to specialize in depends entirely on you of course, but if youre a beginning magician you might want to try different magic specialties first to see which one suits you best.

One thing that you will need to do regardless of whether youre using easy magic tricks or not, is to practice. This is a must if you have a hope of performing any magic tricks (successfully) in front of an audience. There is nothing more embarrassing than having your rabbit pop its head put of your hat before you want it to, and theres absolutely no reason to have your cards do their flipping before youre ready for them to flip.

These are very strong reasons indeed for you to practice diligently at your magic tricks, but sometimes you will find some beginning magicians do not bother overly much with these unnecessary necessities. These budding magicians will not get very far in the magic world.

Even with easy magic tricks, you will find that a lot of thought, practice and diligence needs to go into it, before it comes out the other end as a good magic trick which can be performed flawlessly in front of an audience.

Besides, not having your eggs fall out at the wrong time during a performance can be of great help when youre trying to be a magician. If you want to be a comedian, then thats a different matter, by all means have your eggs fall out, and have your rabbit pop out before time. But if you want to be taken as a serious magician, you will find that practice is the key here.

Of course, practicing on easy magic tricks, is always the best option for beginning magicians as it allows you to get used to your tricks and to understand better how to do them. It can also help you to get an idea of what is needed to do proper magic, and maybe this will be the impetus you need to follow a career in magic.

A great place to start is with “Learn Easy Magic“. It starts with the absolute basics. There are 4 books each one dealing with different area of magic. One book for doing tricks with money, one for doing tricks with cards, one for doing tricks with everyday objects and even on for doing mind reading illusions.

Beginner Magic Tricks: Types Of Magic Tricks

Magic is one form of entertainment enjoyed by many people from all walks of life. It is something that will never cease to amaze people both young and old. If one wishes to become a good magician, it would be a great help to know the various types of magic tricks before performing any. Magic tricks are done in a wide variety of ways and fall into different types;

1. The first one is called close up magic. It’s the type that requires the least skill and many can do it with just a little practice. It usually involves the use of simple things such as a deck of cards, some small balls or a coin. It entails making people believe in one thing but doing something else. This kind of trick proves that the hand is faster than the eye.

2. The next type is called platform magic. This is done in a much larger scale than the first. Some tricks of this type that are well-known include cutting a person that is inside a box in half or making a person who’s lying down levitate in the air after the table below has been removed.

3. The third type, which is very tricky, is called stage magic. Such performances are done quite rarely but when performed, they can become one great magic extravaganza. Such type includes making the statue of liberty disappear or walking through the Great Wall of China.

Innumerable magic tricks and trick lessons make it possible for a lot of people to learn how to become one good magician. This can be accomplished by buying a magic set or reading a book.

Many of these people started while at home, watching how other people do it. Other people who have some experience have talked with others and learned a trick or two.

One can start with a small audience then have a larger one later on. To those who want to do more extreme magic, one should invest more into the trade, learn from others then make a mark to be truly called a magician.

One trick of the trade is to remember that no magician, either a beginner or an expert, should ever reveal the secrets of doing a trick to his or her spectator. Also, no magician has ever become successful overnight. Practice and reinvention can help a lot in getting near that coveted status of a magician.

A great place to start is with Learn Easy Magic. It starts with the absolute basics. There are 4 books each one dealing with different area of magic. One book for doing tricks with money, one for doing tricks with cards, one for doing tricks with everyday objects and even on for doing mind reading illusions.

Today I am writing about the e-book: “Mastering Mentalism“. Let me just say that mentalism is my favorite form of magic. I am truly addicted to learning and learning more and more about this art. So reviewing this product was fun!

The sales page has a lot of hype on it but if you can get past all that it is a very good book. The book claims to be written by someone who goes by Mr. X. It is a little wierd but the content is really good. The writing style is not bad. It does help if you have a little experience in the magic art.

Like anything in magic it takes lots of practice to get the skills down but once you do, with mentalism you will be picking up your friends jaws off of the ground. They will be totally blown away.

Imagine… Being the person that everyone wants to be around because you’re constantly astonishing them with what you’re able to do.
